The outer hulls have been removed from the refined grains, eliminating the nutrients. They can be “enriched”. Enrichment does not compensate for refining. Refined grains include white flour and rice. Your body easily converts refined grains into blood sugar and then abdominal fat.
Avoid white flour (cakes, bread, pasta, breaded foods), there are too many to list.
Eat whole grains (not whole wheat). In recent research, people who ate whole grains did not show the same accumulation of abdominal fat as refined grain eaters.
