22. Keep snails away

Certainly, gardening can be hard and sweaty work from time to time. And if that’s not enough, when you finally have your garden in a respectable state, sticky snails can start crawling in an attempt to ruin everything!

Well, there’s a very simple home remedy for this: beer! These slimy creatures are molluscs who love the smell of sparkling nectar. Unfortunately for them, however, it kills them too. Just leave a plate of beer in your garden and the snails will leave your plants immediately. You can also use hemp and plants that repel them such as onion or fennel. Some people prefer to introduce nematodes into their garden to control the presence of these molluscs.
