23. Pot change management

We all know that feeling when we’ve planted a beautiful plant and seen it grow, only to realize that it probably fits better in another pot of a different size.

When moving a plant from one pot to another, a common mistake is to remove it from its stems. This can damage the plant and separate it from its roots! A better way is to take a sharp knife and carefully loosen the soil from the edges of the pot. If you remove the plant from its base, you have a much better chance of surviving relocation. You can also fill the pot with potting soil suitable for the plants you are transplanting. Prepare the soil mass that sticks to the roots of the plants, initially removing dead, damaged and brittle roots. They must be cut with very sharp scissors. Press lightly and then water in the following weeks according to plant needs.
